Your investment in Southwest Georgia Community Action Council helps people help themselves! Traditional funding sources are becoming more and more limited. Without the support of people like you, we would be unable to meet many needs in our community.
Sadly, we are unable to provide financial assistance for many of the clients who come to us with financial needs. Therefore, it becomes increasingly critical that we prioritize resources to meet the most pressing needs of our clients.

Making a donation is an easy and solid investment. SWGACAC is a private, non-profit charitable organization with 501(C)(3) status as designated by the IRS; hence, your contribution is tax deductible.

Examples
Because we cannot predict when disaster will strike and because the wheels of government turn slowly, it is critical that an entity such as SWGACAC be on the ground quickly to work with Red Cross and meet the most basic needs of disaster victims. In the past we have assisted by providing basic necessities such as food, clothing, and personal hygiene items for victims of tornados, hurricanes and floods. We were able to do this within the first 24 hours in many cases. We are also able to assist families when they lose their home in a fire.
We assist families that cannot pay their rent or utilities because the bread winner in the family is unable to work due to illness or layoff.
We prepare and deliver hot lunches to home-bound elderly persons.
We provide summer day camps each year for a minimum of 100 underprivileged youth ages 12-14.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are always needed in our Head Start program and often at our Neighborhood Service Centers. If you would like to volunteer, please contact your local Head Start Child Development Center or Neighborhood Service Center.
