Dear Friends:
The challenges of recent years, and indeed of the last decade, have cast themselves as nothing more than opportunities for us to become more innovative and diligent in our efforts to meet the changing needs of the citizens of our service delivery area. We are delighted that the work we do identifies us as a positive force in the social service arena and in the lives of individuals throughout Southwest Georgia. We are also proud of the tremendous economic impact this Agency continues to have throughout the communities we serve. As we scan the environment and analyze social trends, we are reminded of the daunting task we face as we persist in our role of helping people attain self-sufficiency.
At this time, a number of collaboratives are being formulated to address many of the pressing needs of our youth and other issues of the day. The need for more involvement goes without question. We welcome the collective thoughts, wisdom, and resources of everyone in this endeavor. However, we stand poised to lend our 40 years of experience, our wealth of knowledge, and our existing infrastructure to the process. Limited resources and the urgent nature of these needs do not lend themselves to a reinventing of the wheel. We must work together for the common good of those who need us. We extend our appreciation to those community partners, both public and private, who work with us in these endeavors. We must continue to work hard and we must work smart.
To the Board of Directors, I offer my sincere thanks for the visionary leadership provided in guiding this Agency through challenges to opportunities. To the staff, I offer my deepest appreciation for the hard work done daily, away from the spotlight.
