Our Headquarters Has Moved!

Interior renovation of the former Market Square Shopping Center was completed the week of June 7.  The renamed Community Action Complex serves as the new home of the Agency headquarters and is located at 912 First Avenue SE in Moultrie.  The complex includes administrative office space, the Colquitt County Neighborhood Service Center, a commercial kitchen and cafeteria, a training/conference facility, and warehouse space.  The site also houses business tenants including Enterprise Rent-A-Car, American General Finance, and Dog World in parcels located elsewhere within the complex.  Come by and visit us at our new location!

Services Available Under ARRA Funding to Qualifying Households

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was enacted February 17, 2009.  The overall purpose of the ARRA federal grant programs are to supplement appropriations for job preservation and creation, infrastructure investment, energy efficiency and science, assistance to the unemployed, and state and local fiscal stabilization.

Stimulus funds to assist qualifying local citizens in need have been allocated to Southwest Georgia Community Action Council.  All individuals receiving ARRA services must meet income guidelines established at 200% of the federal poverty level and certain other requirements depending on the service.  Priority is given to those who have recently lost employment or had a significant reduction in employment.

Examples of services include home weatherization, rent/mortgage assistance, utilities assistance, food and clothing assistance, minor vehicle repairs, congregate and home delivered meals, and wheelchair ramps.  Contact your local Neighborhood Service Center for more information and to apply for services.
